Unfinished – 30″ x 48″

PatternArt Studio & Gallery, along with with other Morgan Block Studios, will be open this Friday, June 26 for our monthly Art Walk. I will be open from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm so stop on by if you happen to be ambling around Fairhaven. I will be working on the above painting and as you can see I have a ways to go. Since I spent most of last summer recuperating from a motorcycle mishap, I am taking some time away from the easel to have a little fun while the sun shines. I joined up with Bellingham Bay Outrigger Paddlers, BBOP and head out once or twice a week in a 6 person outrigger canoe, great fun. Last sunday morning we were about 80 yards away from an Orca Pod, one dorsal fin was at least 6′-0′ tall, it was amazing to be that close to such a large powerful animal. Then we had Huli practise where we purposefully flip the canoe over to practise recovery, good to know what to do when it happens fopr real. Nancy and I went camping at Bowman Bay over a rainy cold couple of days, but thouroughly enjoyed the change of pace.

Homeward Bound – 36″ x 48″ Acrylic on Canvas
Chuckanut Reflection – 18″ x 24″ Acrylic on Canvas

The two above paintings are recent completions, “Homeward Bound” is in my studio awaiting my show at Jansen Art Center this October and “Chuckanut Reflection” is at Scott Milo Gallery in Anacortes https://www.scottmilo.com/ as my contribution to The Puget Sound Group of Northwest Painters exhibition https://www.psgnwa.org/

I hope everybody is taking time to enjoy our fantastic PNW summer, we need to put down our devices and get outside and take heart because these idiotic evil days wont last forever. I know I’ve said it before but imagine the worldwide party when he is gone.
