The above painting is the latest from PatternArt Studio. During the summer I’ve been spending some quality time with my son on our local waters in my 25 year old hand built Baidarka. This amazing Chuckanut edifice is the first structure of many a paddler comes across when launching from Wildcat Cove along the Larabee coast https://parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parks/larrabee-state-park. I wanted to capture the uplifting presence I feel when passing this massif to paddle the amazing Chuckanut shoreline. Typically we paddle around Governor’s Point then across the bay to Chuckanut Island where there are some nice landing beaches, especially at low tide. This painting along with the following two paintings will hopefully be on display this fall at Matzke Gallery for the PSGNWA exhibition.https://www.matzkefineart.com/ I haven’t been juried in yet so stay tuned for studio updates.
I am happy to announce that St. Joseph Hospital’s new Cardiovascular Unit has purchased three of my newest paintings which will hang in the waiting room, hopefully they will bring some visual comfort. Hospital’s can be very contemplative environments, perfect for displaying art.
While I am always grateful for art sales, this particular purchase has created a problem for my upcoming exhibit at Jansen Art Center in Lynden opening this October 15 https://www.jansenartcenter.org/. The above three paintings were painted explicity for this show so now I’m going to have to dig a litle deeper to fill the walls. It will still be a good show as I will have 25 paintings in total on display. There will be other exhibits in the upstairs piano room and throughout the center. Jansen event openings are always very lively and well attended so come on out to Lynden on Thursday, October 15 from 6-8pm to support our regional creative community. The show will run through January 8, 2027.
